Mitchell Council Considers Carnegie Library Donation
Mitchell South Dakota city council weighs accepting Andrew Carnegie's gift of ten thousand dollars for a free library. The plan requires a site donation and an annual maintenance levy, with public opinion to be measured by petition. Aldermen debate voter approval versus immediate action as Dr. Dundass and Winsor urge swift acceptance.

Poultry Show Ends Amid Mixed Attendance at Mitchell
The poultry show closed after an anticlimactic evening as many attendees had already visited. Birds were shipped to owners, with some held over Sunday. Organizers expect a stronger event next year with greater local support and a united effort from Mitchell fanciers. The South Dakota state association did not merge with the Sioux Falls tri state group, and Mitchell plans to host future shows independently to improve the event.
