South Dakota Breeders Push Tuberculosis Test Law

The South Dakota Improved Live Stock Breeders Association moves to close the state to new cattle until they pass tuberculosis tests. A two year committee found many breeding and dairy cattle shipped in without testing and recommends a bill requiring TB testing for all such cattle. The plan aims to purge TB from state herds and prevent criticism of state institutions. Neighboring states have similar laws, and the group intends to push the measure through the current legislative session.
