Christmas Festivities Quietly Observed in Mitchell
Christmas Day passed without snow or cold, yet Mitchell churches held successful observances. The Congregational Sunday School packed the church for a cantata Santa Claus and His Fairies with H P Beckwith as Santa, Miss Jack Frost played by Jessie Walrath, and a tree lighting the gifts for all children.

Christmas Exercises Brighten Local Churches With Santa and Cantata
At the Baptist Church the Sunday School filled the house for Christmas exercises. An evergreen arch held many presents as scholars performed a musical program and Santa Claus, played by Wilton Webster, handed out gifts. Rev. Teall spoke briefly before the program. Wednesday services at St Mary’s were well attended with Rev Babcock delivering a fitting sermon. The Methodist Church drew a large crowd Wednesday night to see Santa Claus in a four scene cantata Santa Claus in a Plight with A C Shepard directing and a brick chimney stage prop added flair.

Whittaker, Clifford Gheen, and Fred Kershaw as Santa Clauses and a lively Commandery dancing party with forty to fifty couples and a Parlor Orchestra. The column also notes a political editorial urging strong naval buildup and a brief historical local postage rate recap.

Da Kod Snuff And The Rocky Time Ahead
The emperor and Dr. O'Meara discuss their grim outlook as they survey massive stone masses and looming cliffs. The captain’s pet roast remark hints at a tense scene with a pun on respect and danger. It reads like a Flori da Times Union dialogue vignette with biting humor.
