Dr S H Riggs loan brings state collection to Pierre exhibit
Dr S H Riggs of Plankinton loans a large mounted collection of birds reptiles and animals to the State Historical Society. Doane Robinson delivered the two cases to Pierre for display in the state house rooms and the society hopes lawmakers will purchase the specimens for permanent ownership. The show previously drew crowds at the corn palace and includes a rare whistling crane among about 250 specimens. Something entirely new in pure silk umbrellas at Becker's for Christmas.

Bishop's Palace Too Costly and Other Notes
Hartlebury castle in England, the oldest episcopal residence, will be sold as too expensive for a bishop lacking private funds. The Charleston D.C. library founded in 1749 is cited as America’s first library. Rev. Richard Cotton Smith of St. John’s in Washington resembles Bob Fitzsimmons in appearance, not in hairstyle. Migratory birds show strong instinct by following routes through narrow seas and river valleys. Cornell may name a new liberal arts hall after Goldwin Smith, praised by President Schurman as a leading liberal cultural figure.
