It claims wide medical approval, notes bottles cost 60 cents or one dollar, and warns buyers to trust California Fig Syrup Co as the manufacturer with its name on every package.
Washington November 28 Chairman Wilson issues a statement on the tariff bill. He notes the Ways and Means panel’s efforts to reform a vast tax system and avoid favoritism. Main ideas include ad valorem duties, broad free lists for raw materials, and specific schedule tweaks across chemistry iron and steel sugar tobacco and textiles. The plan aims to boost production exports and reduce consumer costs while preserving revenue.
Twenty defendants, some socially prominent, stand trial in the United States court in New York Port Tuano on charges of smuggling. James Letan, former customs collector, and J C Mulkey, former treasury agent, are among the defendants. Nathan Blum pleaded guilty to smuggling 300 pounds of opium. sentence reserved, and he is expected to testify for the government.

The M E society hosted a full house event Friday at the Windle residence with a diverse cast of characters, a strong musical and literary program, and elegant refreshments. Herb Adams as Shylock won top votes, Sadie Davenport as a Swiss peasant placed second, and the gala netted $20 for the cause.
