War production clubs organize under district leader A. J. Haynes with a team of specialists in production and conservation. A meeting at 4 oclock in the afternoon in the assembly room of the high school drew J N Crow and local leaders. sessions to teach canning, liberty food work, and home demonstration will continue with additional meetings in Woonsocket, Madison, Redfield, and Sioux Falls.

War department officials move to grant furloughs to soldiers in training camps who are needed for farm work this season. Applicants must obtain endorsements from the local exemption board and county agent. If labor is available, the agent may refuse endorsement. Farmers must sign affidavits committing to use the soldier until harvest. Furloughs are issued by the camp commanding officer and expire after harvest.
