Fire on American Island Destroyed Timber in Chamberlain

April 17 report says American Island timber, part of Chamberlain city park, burned across about one thousand one hundred acres. Six suspects named Adolph Tisber Chas Ehman Ed Rigby E G Spindler Matt King and Mr Bronson are under arrest as hearings continue. On April 19 Su Wah a Chinese laundryman reportedly hanged himself, believed deranged. fire had destroyed about a quarter of the timber.

Electric plant delays Aberdeen city lighting after water motor failure

Aberdeen reports the new electric light plant must abandon the water motor due to artesian well limitations. A steam engine will be installed, delaying full electric lighting for several days. Graham Bros. awarded contract to grade the Chicago and Northwestern Railway extension from Columbia to LaMoure, with work to start immediately.

Tragic Campbell County Death From House Fire

Miss Garrett, 18, of Campbell County, burned to death when her dress caught fire at an outdoor oven. With the home ablaze and a ten year old boy aiding, she sought to smother the flames by jumping into bed. Rescuers arrived but she died at 9 that night. house and contents were completely destroyed.

London reports the Bartlett poisoning case concluded with the jury acquitting Rev Dyson and Mrs Adelade Bartlett after closing arguments contending Bartlett was killed by the prisoner. Tragedy in Danville as mob hangs two Weavers

In Danville near Anthony Kansas two Weaver brothers were seized by a mob after a fatal fight with Adel. Deputies surrendered, the brothers were overpowered, hanged preparations were made but the mob fled as approaching footsteps frightened them. Witnesses include the brothers' mother and sister-in-law. The event follows earlier bail set at 10000 dollars each.
