City council in regular session approves minutes and discusses telephones franchise bid, saloon licensing referendum, weighmaster’s income, and pardon of drunk man. Auditor reports sinking fund and general fund balances. several sidewalk bids and city coal contracts opened. T. M. Wallace low bid favored amid critique of city materials sales.
The city council awarded the contract to Mr. Wallace by unanimous vote after mayoral assurances that Wallace and Fuller ton Lumber Co. had no greater stake. Aldermen Bracy and Levinger backed the bid as bona fide, while resolutions set the April 19 city election and named voting judges. County commissioners adjourned without a 3400 state exhibit appropriation for the Omaha exposition, citing tax concerns.
