Flower Queen Elected in Marshall With 661 Votes
Miss Katherine Cordell won the Marshall Flower Queen title by 661 votes. Runners up were Miss Leta Hancock 594 and Miss Clara Irvine 545. Ballot totals, announced Friday morning, will fund the royal costume for the flower parade Thursday.

Death of Rev W M Beatty in Marshall Ohio
Rev W M Beatty, pastor of the Methodist church in Marshall, died at his South Lafayette Street home after eight days of typhoid fever aged 41. He was born in Louis town Pennsylvania October 1848 and married to Nannie Grier of Pittsburg. He and his family moved to Marshall about 18 months ago where he served the church with energy and public spirit. He leaves a wife and a young son, and his congregation mourns his loss as the new church rises to honor his memory. Funeral held Thursday morning conducted by Rev W L Coleman with Mason and Odd Fellow orders in attendance. Pallbearers listed.

Death of Saline County banker Hamner at 96 in Miami
Luther Judson Hamner a prominent Saline County banker died at his Miami home after a weeklong illness from kidney stone trouble. He was 96, married to Bettie C. Manvon, with six children surviving. A respected, jovial man of strong character, his long life touched many friends and business colleagues. Funeral arrangements were not announced.

Tom Conway of Marshall entered the market for the first time in months. J W Hawkins of Fairville reported 63 dead 1,277 pound steers fed on St Louis market last Thursday, sold to Swift & Company. Smith & Arnold of Napton sold a 1,255 pound steer for $5.90. W W Crum of Malta Bend marketed 1,346 pound steers at $5.50 in St Louis on Wednesday.
