Peter Steinkuhler died at the Old Soldiers Home in Leavenworth Kansas on Saturday September 24 at age 72. He lived in Sweet Springs and was known locally. He served in the Union army in the Civil War and was buried with military honors in Leavenworth. Survived by his two marriages and children Frits, Louis, and Chas, plus daughters Mrs Frits Haesemeier Mrs Jacob Hemme and Mrs Gus Kappelman. Attendees from Saline included Frits and Louis Steinkuhler Fritz Hasemeyer Jacob Hemme and Mrs Krause.

G W Mitchell a respected Sar nee citizen died Tuesday night at his home two miles southwest of town from asthma aged 16 years 1 month. He was a Civil War veteran on the union side and a Republican leader. Funeral services will be held at his residence at 10 am today conducted by Rev J B Abbott and burial will follow in Ridge Park cemetery.

Obituary: Joseph G N Griffin Dies at 69 in West Allis
Joseph G N Griffin died at his home in West Allis on Tuesday at 5 30 a m after a long illness from arteriosclerosis. He was 69 years old. He is survived by his wife and son George. School Board Resignation Leads to Appointments
At Thursday’s school board meeting BE. BE. Barnum resigned and Len D. Murrell was appointed to fill the vacancy. Lilian Barnum also resigned as West Building teacher due to health, with Miss Susan Barnum taking her place. School system opens in excellent condition with no other resignations. Estelle Jones left for Lathrop Missouri to teach, and Prof. John Fray remains Parsons Kansas High School principal. Louis Rasco plans to study law at Columbia University in New York City next week.

City Marshal Ed Maddox shot Charles Campbell, a Black man, twice while transporting him from the C & A depot to the City Jail after Campbell allegedly attacked Maddox.
