Obituary notices for Mrs Margaret Reid of Slater age 89 plus deaths of Henry Fleece Cook E T Robinson Theo J Hope. Names, ages, places of residence. Details of survivors, church affiliations, funeral times and burial at City Cemetery, with origins in Scotland and Missouri.
Mrs Sarah King died at St Joseph hospital on October 17 after weeks of failing health. Her remains were taken to her daughter Mrs R L Bryan's home on Ellsworth, where the funeral was held with Rev A R Faris officiating. She leaves five children including Mrs Elbert Kennedy of Armstrong and George King of Kansas City.
J C Dunlap died in Miami at his hours on October 19 at age 64. He was a bachelor and lived with his sister Miss Mary Bay.
Geo T Terrell of Blackburn bought the old Elmwood farm of 200 acres from Jim Ereon via John Me Bini of Sweet Springs at 119.50 per acre. The buyer plans move to the property while Fred Mueller has rented a nearby Elmwood tract. Mr Luton has not decided next steps.
Citizens of Missouri assess two years of Republican executive rule as the party submits its record for the November 8 ballot. The promises of an efficient economical and progressive administration are said to have been kept with state departments and reforms in eleemosynary penal and reform institutions continuing under Republican management.
Louis Wolf of Shackelford was struck by a passing train while crossing the C A track in a wagon about 30 minutes before sunrise Wednesday. He died minutes later and the inquest was held in Marshall. He was a brother of Mrs Louis Webber and survived by several grandchildren. Burial at Ridge Park followed a brief service led by Rev J E Abbott.

A high school lecture course this year combines two musical numbers by the LaDell Concert Co and the Otterbein Male Quartette with two lecturers Lucian Edgey Pallansboe and Dr James Hodiey and two entertainers. Season tickets cost 1 to 1.25 dollars with proceeds distributed to schools based on tickets sold. Parents are urged to subscribe through teachers and pupils. the sale continues Saturday morning at the store.

The Cumberland Presbyterians plan a revival starting Sunday Oct 23 at I C C F Hall led by Rev C W Zwingle of Evanaville Ind. The Christian church revival is under Elder from Birmingham Alabama already in charge. Emma Francisco Mia and Mrs Bessie Tegler joined the Lafayette Presbytery Women Missionary Union trip to Corder and Ella Bowen and Sadie Buckland Missionary societies of the First Presbyterian church participated. Hon Jan R Walker of St. Louis campaigned across Saline with Republican state support. He spoke at Malta Bend and Grand Pass, faced poor turnout at Gilliam and Emma, but drew large crowds at Herndon Sweet Springs and Rose Valley. The tour included editor Witt and Senator Hall with meals hosted by local families. Weather threatens a few remaining dates, but political prospects look favorable for a strong Republican turnout.
Marvin Boisseau of the State University headlines a Saline weeklong Republican speaking engagement. The editor joined the tour, opening Monday at Ridge Prairie with H. Perkins introducing the editor and Boisseau delivering a brisk, entertaining address.
Dr G E Scratch reports surviving boy Godfrey Geiger says he and cousin Carl Keubli rode a freight car from Mina Dakota to Kansas City then rode east toward home. They were discovered unconscious after being forced to pay or leave and tried to walk between stations along the tracks. Both boys rested on ties and continued walking when last left in the car.
Keuble and Geiger were found after a westbound freight struck them on the track. Keuble died, Geiger survived, with both boys located thirty feet apart. Dr Scratchfield placed their positions as the engine weight and impact explained. Geiger's father took him home to Jamestown on Wednesday.
City Council met Oct. 17 with all members present at Conway Ave location. A. B. Cary received a pool hall license. Heuot license for a coffee show was approved. Farmers Coal Co. bid to supply water works at 3.40 per ton weight delivered to water works switch was ordered. Sidewalk committee reported on sidewalks west of lots 11 and 2 in block 3 and lots 9 10 01 and £ 2 in block 6 Hudson Add.
Miami friend A. W. Sullivan reports a treatment for sneakishness that cures two at once. He admits feeling sneaky for months, then discovers he was behind with the editor. He plans to pay up to feel better.
