The Gofero preliminary trial before Judge Mason ended with Gofero denying all charges claiming a conspiracy. A letter alleged as proof was shown, but Prof. Atty. Meschede says it was obtained under pressure. Gofero was bound over to the November term of criminal court and sent back to jail for failing to post bond of 900.00.

Robt Piper, a colored man, who shot Ed Jones, a colored man, at Mt Leon ard on September 9, died at Mt Leonard Wednesday afternoon of consumption aged 34. Survived by his wife. Funeral services held at Mt Leonard last Friday at 11 a m. Piper well known here, worked for Lowenstein Bros and at the Ruff. He was arrested and pled guilty to disturb.

The German Lutheran congregation near Little Rock marked its fortieth anniversary at the pastor Rev. C. Klindworth home. Rev. Mueller of Forest Green delivered the Jubilee sermon.
