Miss Mary Ludwig born April 1884 died Saturday September 30 in Marlem Montana at age 27 after overwork and illness. She studied at Warrensburg last winter and sought healing climate at her brother Herman Ludwig Jr.’s home. Survivors include parents two sisters Clara and Stella and brother George. Funeral at 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev J E B Abbott, Ridge Park cemetery.

City awards coal contract to Western Coal and Mining Co
City council last week awarded the annual coal contract to the Western Coal and Mining Co of Kansas City at 62.40 a ton for Lexington lamp on the track. The expiring Higginsville coal contract was 3.4 dollars per ton higher, a saving of about one third, amounting to roughly 1000 to 1200 dollars for the year.
