Lee P. Wiley died November 14 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kansas City. Born February 8, 1957 in Georgetown Kentucky, he lived in Blackburn 1886 to 1889 and later Marshall until 1997 before moving to Kansas City. A real estate man, he partnered with N. B. Noble and G. W. Newton. Survived by wife and four children Dr. L. P. Wiley, Warren, Mrs Katherine of Kansas City, and Charles of Chicago. Funeral at the Baptist church in Marshall at 2 pm conducted by Rev. Inence Hodge. burial at Ridge Park cemetery with Masonic honors.

Ben P Howell died at his Arrow Rock home on Monday November 1, aged 12, after summer illness from consumption. Survived by son John Howell and daughter Mrs Earl Martin of Arrow Rock. Described as a substantial citizen with a wide circle of friends.

Obituary of Benjamin P Howell at Hardeman County home
Benjamin P Howell died at his home near Hardeman after a lingering illness of tuberculosis born in St Clair County Missouri on Sept 3 1854. He moved with his parents to the area as a youth and married Cora Moors of St Clair in 1861. Four children were born to the couple two died earlier the surviving John Howell at home and Nora Martin of Arrow Rock. He was a devoted husband and father and attended Concord Church where Rev C Q Bhance conducted services. His remains rest beside his wife in Concord Cemetery. The writer offers sympathy to friends and especially to his brother A W Howell and the children facing double sorrow after losing both parents.

They toured the facilities, noted improvements, and observed the 26 acre farm, 42 room home completed in March 1909, 36 inmates, steam heating, coal oil lighting, and the staff including G T Harris, T P Henry, and J M Hinton.

Doing a Good Work By Milnes For Missouri Children
R T Milnes of Kansas City spoke this week for the Children's Home Society of Missouri. He cited a local case in which Ivy 14 blind, Virgil 10 and Florence 4 were cared for after their mother died, with Ivy sent to the Missouri School for the Blind and the others adopted. Milnes urged reliable giving to aid homes for orphans and noted Saline county children cared for, though names were kept private out of respect for the families.

Prompt fire department work prevented further damage. owner Robt Campbell Sr. reports little structural loss, but Mr. Grimes suffers about one thousand dollars in losses and holiday business was interrupted.

Accidents at City Meat Market and Sweet Springs
Nim N Noce injured his left middle finger when his hand was mashed by machinery at City Meat Market on Saturday. He narrowly escaped being drawn in and crushed and will be off work for several weeks. Frank Rose fractured a leg at Sweet Springs, then rode a train to Sedalia. His foot struck him and broke the leg, and he planned to seek further care after returning home.
