Mrs George Pugh Dies After Typhoid at Crearville
Mrs George Pugh died at her home near Crearville after a several days illness from typhoid fever. She was 26 years old and survived by her husband and five children all under eight. A Methodist church member, she was laid to rest at Oreaville after a 10 a.m. service at the Baptist church led by Rev. Reeves of Fayette. The husband and children have the sympathy of the community.

Mrs Frances E Hawpe died at her son Ryland s home in Denver after a short illness. Formerly Miss Edwards of Arrow Rock she married Benjamin Hawpe on October 27 1850 and lived here most of her life. Her remains arrived Sunday with son James Hawpe and granddaughter Miss Iona Carter and were taken to Ridge Park Cemetery by Undertaker Walker where Rev J E McDonald conducted a service.

He Likes Colorado A Cripple Creek Letter From Martin Zimmerman
Martin Zimmerman and his wife moved to Cripple Creek from east of town. At 78 he enjoys excellent health, eats three meals daily, sleeps well, cuts firewood, and walks to town. They report two months of dry weather with light snow and expect winter soon. His wife’s health has improved since leaving Saline, helped by the cool mountain air. Most local children were visiting this summer to enjoy the climate and scenery.

Court Imposes Heavy Fines on Several Defendants
Arthur Moore of the city was tried in the criminal court Tuesday on two counts of selling liquor illegally. He was fined 300 dollars on the first charge, 100 dollars on the second, and sentenced to six months in jail. Samuel Bryant, colored, pleaded guilty to burglary in the second degree and was sentenced. Leonard Franklin, colored, pleaded guilty to robbery in the second degree and received a three year penitentiary term. John Ryan pleaded guilty to robbing the Nelson depot Tuesday night.
