Notice of Special Election on City Water Works Debt
The City of Marshall will hold a special election on December 16 1961 to decide increasing city debt by seventy thousand dollars for water works and an electric light plant. Voting will occur at the Assembly Room with judges L H Tucker R Ep Holloway John Rhoades J J Kirkpatrick and clerks J W Sparks Edward Lowenstein W V Hoff J R Slifer.

Business House Burned At Grand Pass
A general merchandise store owned by H. C. Griffith & Co. at Grand Pass burned Thursday morning between 3 and 4 o'clock. The fire, blamed on a defective flue, destroyed the building but insured only for the structure, not the stock. Two loads of potatoes in the cellar were roasted.

Notable Anniversary at General Harrison Tomb
The November 16 anniversary of the Tippecanoe battle drew a large crowd to the new tomb of General William Harrison at North Bend Ohio. Major Gleason of Cleves gave the welcome, with responses by Judge Bode and Congressman Jacob H. Bromwell, followed by Judge Canmore and Captain McClung. Carl Schmidt placed the wreath as Cincinnati’s German singing societies observed. None of the Harrison family attended.
