Judge J W Winning, 72, died Thursday at 7 45 pm at his home 420 North Jefferson after years of illness. A prominent Saline County figure, he served Arrow Rock township as justice of the peace, was county judge for two terms and treasurer for four terms. Born October 27 1841 in Arrow Rock, he served in the Confederate Army and married twice. Funeral at First Baptist Church on Saturday at 3 pm, with Masons aiding interment in De Park Cemetery.

Local Pioneer Charles Hume Dies At 70
Charles Hume died at his home near Malta Bend on Saturday at 1 30 pm after a period of ill health. He was a pioneer resident of the county noted for his faith and service at the Bapt ist church. Survived by two sons Robert and Charles and two daughters Mrs Ed Hutcherson and Mrs Lula Hilebrand, all of Saline county. The funeral was held Monday at Union church west of Marshall and burial followed at Union Cemetery with Dr M Walker in charge.
