Deaths of C. Haynes and Eva Buskirk noted in Pettis county
C H Haynes a longtime Pettis county resident died at his Houstonia home on October 28 from heart trouble. A Civil War Union veteran born July 21 1833 in Davidson County NC he was 76 and with his wife Anne Downs had a snug 120 acre farm southwest of town. Eva Buskirk died in Holden Mo at age 9 years 10 months from diphtheria with several siblings falling ill. her remains will be buried in Ridge Park beside her father’s grave, with the family planning to bring them home in January.

Local Resident Dies of Pneumonia on Farm
A local farmer Hanley, living on Charlie Pot farm north of town, died after pneumonia. Mayberry, who had been working for him, also died on Saturday leaving the deceased’s name unknown.

Forged Checks Lead to Bank Arrest of Levi Jackson

Fire at Blackburn Depot Sparks Arrest Made
Jos Flair, visiting from Blackburn, says the C A depot narrowly escaped Friday night. Two freight crews found the fire about 11 p m and extinguished it. Records and papers were damaged and a hole burned in the ceiling. A depot fire is suspected and an arrest was made pending further developments.
