Flooded Lowlands Threaten Homes Across County

The river's rapid erosion has submerged the lower bottoms from the county line to Laynesville, with several residents reporting floodwaters across their farms. Officials fear the river could advance a half mile to a mile nearer homes as water recedes, while embankment integrity near the C. and A. line remains unclear. Local observers note the river is receding slowly and assess potential damage to track and embankments.
