Reports favor keeping the North Benton Avenue crossing as is and no sidewalk work along English Avenue to the railroad or Washington Street to Lyon Avenue. Franchise for Herndon Telephone company referred to ordinance and city attorney to draft. Coal bids for water works referred to Water Committee. Annual financial report January 1 to June 30 1908 ordered published. Mayor reports financial status with revenue estimates. An intoxicating liquor sale ban ordinance read thrice and passed. Grade change on Mitchell Street ordinance read thrice and passed. Accounts paid. Mayor appoints Fred Ernest jailor and keeper of Fire Department for six months. appointment confirmed. Mayor also appoints L Gaunt Arthur Hupp J F Spangler and J B Prior to board of Health. Officers reports filed. Adjourned.
