Fannie Marshall Dies at 75. Funeral Held in Fairview Cemetery
Fannie Marshall of West Marion died last Friday morning February 19 at age 75. Her remains were laid to rest in Fairview cemetery Saturday. A purse was raised to help defray burial expenses for the poor woman.

Death of Martha Walker in Kanax City at age 52
Mrs. Martha Walker, a respected Black woman, died at her home in Kanax City on February 19 1900 of consumption at 52. She leaves a mother two daughters a son and many relatives. Her remains were brought by train February 20 and the funeral held February 23 at the Free Baptist church led by Rev. C St. Smith of Blackwater. She had been a member of the Baptist church for 32 years.

Sheriff Haynie chased the stranger through Jefferson and Highland after a failed attempt to stop him with a shot.
