Hon Robert L Brown died at his son's home Frank L Brown in this city on February 15. Born and raised in Fairville he married Annie Tucker in October 18 68. A son Frank L Brown survived. Brown served in the State Legislature in 1888 and 1889 and was a Christian gentleman affiliated with the MB Church South. Funeral services were held at the MB Church Friday with burial in Mt Carmel Cemetery.

Widow Bettie Graves Dies in Maryville Missouri
Mrs Bettie Graves widow of R O Graves died at her son’s home in Maryville Missouri on Thursday Febsth and was buried in Maryville cemetery. She was daughter of the late Woodson Gilliam and raised in the community. Survived by one son three sisters and a brother Mrs Addie Wolfskill Judith and Mario Gilliam of Slater and Joseph Gilliam of St Louis. She spent years with relatives in Slater and died after pneumonia struck her upon returning home from Slater.

Monroe Johnson aged 58 died at the home of Jne M Thompson four miles south of Slater last Friday morning. Funeral service by Rev J T Pritchett at Mt Horeb Saturday afternoon. Interment in Mt Horeb cemetery. Survived by his wife and a large family. Community offers sympathy as he had been in poor health for years.

Mrs Jennie Brown Dies In Faith At 10 Years
Mrs Jennie Brown colored departed this life February 10 1912 at her daughter's home. She leaves a son and a daughter along with many grandchildren and friends. A member of M E Church she died in the faith. Funeral services were led by Rev Todd and burial was in Sappington cemetery.

Farm hand Robey hangs self in barn loft near Rose Valley
Cloud Robey an 18 year old farm hand left his home Thursday morning and was found dead in the barn loft of J. D. Rothrock near Rose Valley. He married Linnie Lynch last September. The body showed he died by his own action with a rope looped around his neck and attached to the hay carrier. No message explaining the act was found.
