Four small children mourn the death of A. G. Griffitts' son described as a splendid, steady and industrious young man. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at the residence conducted by Rev. O. J. Russell of Marshall and burial followed at Ridge Park cemetery.
CAPT ALBERT HORNBECK died at Bunceton on Monday February 14 aged nearly 70. He was a prominent Democrat with many Saline friends who regret his passing. MRS EMILY MITCHELL died at her daughter Mrs Ed Bernard's home in Kansas City yesterday morning. She was over 80 and mother of J W Robertson of this city and of Dan and Seldom Robertson of Kansas City. Her funeral will be in Marshall today Friday.
Flem Marshall of Blackwater, 36, died suddenly at Hot Springs Arkansas after eye injury complications. Survived by wife and two children. services held at Blackwater and burial after Methodist church service. Mike Hennasy, a long time C and A Railway foreman, died suddenly at his Slater home after an early morning fire. funeral planned in Slater.
Charles Frederick died at his home near Greenwich Kansas on Tuesday February 6 1910 after a weeks illness of heart disease He was born in Germany 1852 came to America 30 years ago lived in Missouri 25 years and later moved to Kansas He leaves a wife and six children four sons and two daughters The community remembers him as a successful farmer with many friends who lament his passing
Miss Emma Thompson, about 30, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Thompson, southeast of Slater, was found dead in a hay mow Friday about 6 p m. Apparent suicide by carbolic acid. Long in poor health. Funeral held Saturday evening at Rehobeth cemetery.
Special to Marehall Republican from National Stock Yards Illinois reports cattle receipts around 3500 mostly natives with steady tone. Best steers sold at 7.16 for A. B. Hensley. hog receipts about 10,000 with top 9.22 1/2, a new market record, opened 5 to 10 cents higher but closed with most gains lost. Sheep receipts 3000 active and about 10 cents higher. top western lambs 8.85, yearlings 8.45, hogs steady outlook for near future.
The Missouri Republicans met at Planters Hotel in St Louis for a social gathering with war talk and harmony earlier in Kansas City. Speakers included Gov Hadley and State Chairman Dickey. The event drew about 300 visitors, with discussion focused on the sixth district defeat and tariff concerns. Observers urged clean ranks, progressive policies, and Dickey possibly aiming for senator or governor, depending on voters.
A mass convention of Republican voters in Marshall is scheduled for City Hall on Wednesday March 24 1910 at 7 45 p m to nominate a city ticket for the April 5 1910 election and to elect a new City Central Committee. The session may address additional proper business. The secretary is M C Chaffee. A daughter named Blescor Mary was born to Mr and Mrs J T Hereford on East North Street.

At a Friday meeting of the Missouri Colony board of managers E. E. Barnum was named steward to replace Armentrout. Mrs. Julia A. Gleason of Kansas City becomes matron, with Dr. M. J. Powell retained as assistant physician. Barnum, a Marshall old citizen, is praised for ability and fit for duties as colony affairs will be carefully overseen.
A large party of Sweet Springs farmers traveled to Montana on Tuesday morning for a prospecting trip. Members included Henry Morrison, Henry Jackson and his son Harry, James Coffey, Sam Curry, Joe Killion and his son.
Charles Proctor assists J M Huff in settling hardware stock as a half interest sale closes. A public auction will be held February 22 for farming Implements livestock including 23 mules, 10 mares, 30 tons timothy hay as the owner moves to Marshall.
