James M. Herndon Dies in Kansas City at 72
James M Herndon aged 72 years 11 months died in Kansas City Wednesday night at 645 pm after living in Saline county most of life. He moved to Blue Springs a year ago and to Kansas City a week ago. Survived by seven children from first wife Loutitia Jones. six reside in Kansas City Los Angeles Shawnee Coldwell and Saline. Second wife Emma Hutchins and one child also survive. Remains to be taken to Herndon for funeral at 2 pm with burial at Hazel Grove cemetery. AD Elliott of Butte City Montana died at EdgWott home near Herndon Tuesday Feb 7 of heart trouble and dropsy aged about 60. Survived by wife. Remains laid to rest at Antioch Wednesday.

Fire Destroys State Capitol in Jefferson City
A spectacular blaze gutted Missouri's State Capitol in Jefferson City on February 5. Lightning struck the dome at 7 p m and the interior burned fiercely despite efforts by Jefferson City volunteers, Missouri Penitentiary convicts, National Guard and local fire forces.
