Mrs. Joan H. Nichols of near Woodson on the James Wingfield farm died Thursday night January 29. Heart trouble caused her death after a brief illness since Christmas Day birth of a child. Survived by husband and seven children. Funeral held Saturday at Health Creek church with burial in the church cemetery.

Auto Burns In Roadside Crash Near Marshall
Luther Tucker of Fairville owned a newly bought Mitchell automobile that burned after skidding to avoid a bogey about a mile from Marshall. Tucker and Robert Haynie were traveling west when the car struck a bank, gas line broke, sparks ignited the fuel, and the vehicle was destroyed. Some insurance was carried.

City Council Proceedings in Marshall February Meeting
The Marshall city council met at city hall on a February Monday. Members present included Mayor E.R. Mitchell and councilmen Mitchell Barnes Pemberton Allen Rose Tucker Brooks and Welch with city attorney James and city clerk Alexander. A special committee was appointed to investigate a sewer in Strother's addition and bids for sewer extension were awarded to Chas Petry. The council authorized the mayor to sign contracts and instructed the clerk to notify the Telephone and Electric Light Company to move poles. The board of public works reported on water works finances and recommended street and well projects with noted salaries and appointments. The meeting adjourned after accounts and salaries were approved.
