A youth aged 17 years 5 months 1 day died after a year long illness at his home east of town. Funeral services were led by Rev. E K Wolfe at Cambridge at 2 pm and burial followed in Cambridge Cemetery. A longer notice is expected in Laver Gili lammde debene ee 27.
Last week Marshall saw two fire incidents after a hot stove polish burst into flame. Mrs Grover Mhroman suffered severe burns while polishing the stove and Mrs Ebroman received serious burns when her dress caught fire before the blaze was controlled.
Dr J E Harris suffered severe burns after a steam driven blast from a furnace at the First Presbyterian church last week. He received burns to his hand and body and was bandaged afterward.
Thos Cretcher sustained a severe injury to his left hand when a hatchet slipped while he was cutting meat on Thursday afternoon. He is reported to be recovering well with ibuprofen and medical care.
Lawrence Rasse broke a collar bone and dislocated shoulder playing basketball at the high school last week. He is reported to be getting along nicely.
Haswell Naylor suffered injuries in a work related incident after a confrontation with a coworker identified as Gibcaugut. Details remain limited as authorities investigate the altercation at the workplace.
J B Watts was tailing his evening smoke when Priday accidentally set some porte eres on fire at his residence and suffered painful burns while attempting to extinguish the blaze.
Joseph Singleton an 11 year old boy near the Mose LH Land mill accidentally shot his hand weeks ago but is reported about well again.
Mrs. F. H. Wessendorf, who died at Blackburn last week, was laid to rest in Warrenton Sunday beside her two departed sons. The entire family and Aug Holle attended the funeral. Mrs. Wessendorf was a highly respected lady.
The text credits Louw Strauss of Gilliam with earning a certificate for exemplary duck shooting. It recounts stories of duck hunting on the Cambridge club grounds where Strauss and F K Skinner shot ducks from a large flock using repeating shotguns and live decoys. The G A Dawes drug store at Mt Leonard was robbed on the night of December 16. Entry was made through the front door and cash from the register and safe was taken. About 75 dollars was stolen.
The Mud College Literary Society held Friday night at the Miller schoolhouse near Sweet Springs with a large turnout. Nearly half the audience was asked to stand due to insufficient seating and reaction to the debate.
A meeting featuring items such as Just Before the Battle Mother and The Preacher and The Bear was held with Ralph Crain and Len Nightwine among speakers. The affirmative won the debate on a topic about environment shaping character. Officers were elected and a program for next Friday night announced. Ada Bristow is improving after appendicitis and Arrow Brook is reportedly ill with rheumatism.

W B Hodge Blue Lick dollar for year. W Willig recent move near Herndon joins as new subscriber. J L McCormick northeast of town orders the best county paper.
Mr and Mrs Mc Ginnis hosted a holiday dinner last Sunday December 25 with Mr and Mrs Jno McGinley and family and Mr and Mrs J J Mitchell and family. The elegant feast marked the couple's 20th wedding anniversary and offered seasonally fine dainties.

Citizens praise the paper, note corn along the railroad, and report renewals from Mt Leonard Gilliam Sweet Springs and Slater as taxes are paid and new readers join.
J P Gwinn of Slater invited friends Ab Whithe, the Fish Creeker and wives T B Gwinn and Frank Gwinn of Nodaway, Jud Brown and wife. Gwinn startled Mr Brown by rushing into grace while pondering a long or short blessing, then recovered with a quick short grace amid hunger.
