Sensational Sedalia tale ends in quiet admission
A Sedalia attorney reports a strange wedding fraud involving a sister in Marshall Maine. A Kansas suitor returned, obtained a license, and married the girl privately in a dark parlor. The bride fainted, the sister alleged a hoax, and the truth was kept quiet by reluctant witnesses and local press suppression, leaving the society wedding revealed only faintly.
