George R Shafer aged 28 died Sunday July 27 at 4:95 p m at his home 909 East North Street from tetanus caused by a bunion on the sole of his foot. He collapsed at a funeral at Ridge Park July 22 and never recovered. He had married July 27 to Miss Mary Elizabeth Hurt. Survived by his wife and his parents Mr and Mrs Josephus Shafer of Assumption Illinois and a sister Mrs I L Long of Assumption, plus a paternal grandmother aged 88. He was a member of Knights of Pythias Bika and Bagies lodges and the state undertakers associations of Illinois and Kansas. Funeral at the Christian church at 2:30 p m Wednesday conducted by Elder T Wharton. burial at Ridge Park cemetery.

A four mule team pulling a Wheat wagon collided with an automobile at Akerman corner south of Miami causing the wagon tongue to break.
