Nettie Ward Dies in Colony At 35 After Transit From Cleveland
Nettie Ward a Colony resident died Sunday from ascites at age 35. She was brought from Cleveland Missouri two weeks ago. Services were led by Elder Wharton and her remains were laid to rest Monday in the Colony burial grounds. The Colony choir sang several hymns and a brother from Cleveland attended the funeral.

Fire again hits Third Fire Rose and Buckner firm
A store owned by Buckner and partners in Centralia burned after spreading from an adjacent drug store. The loss totaled 59000 with five firms destroyed and partial stock saved. The building, owned by C M Buckner, was a total loss. They are insured and will rebuild.

The District Conference of the M. E. Church South met in Miami from Monday to Thursday with about seven delegates present. Dr Hyde in Jail for murder charge
Dr B Clark Hyde was jailed after Judge Latshaw revoked his bond on the murder charge tied to Colonel Thomas H Swope s death. The decision followed evidence of Hyde buying twenty two cyanide potassium capsules and acquiring tuborgerm cultures, shocking the court. The marshal was ordered to detain him and remand him to custody.
