Death of August Royar Affects Miami Community
August Royar, born 1819 in Zurlbrucken Germany, died April 23 1911 at his Miami home after a long life as grocery merchant, farmer, soldier, and respected neighbor. Survived by six living children Ida Julia Fannie Mary Lewis Ulysses, with five sons and seven daughters total from two marriages. His long service in the U S Army 1862 to 1865 and earlier in Napoleon’s era noted. He celebrated a golden wedding in 1906 and remained active in I C O F lodge affairs.

Ambrose Parks died at his home about four miles northwest of Marshall last Friday April 1 after a short illness. About a month earlier it was announced he was suffering from stomach trouble and became critically ill in the days before his death.

Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon by Rev J B Abbott and burial in Ridge Park cemetery. Louis French died at his home in Pleasant Hill Mo on Sunday April 16 aged 62. He is survived by his wife formerly Miss Arzena Wilkerson and one son Joseph. Deceased was a brother of Lloyd French of near Hardeman. Mrs J T Thorp of Nelson died at Dr Ravensways sanitarium Boonville after an operation. She was a Baptist and old Saline resident. husband and five children survive. John Roe, Miami's prominent citizen, died at his home in Miami from peritonitis aged 49 years 11 days. he is survived by his wife and five children Irma Margaret Beatrice Rebekah J W Jr. He was a Baptist and LOO member. funeral at the Baptist church conducted by Rev T L Powell.

Mrs. Wm Steele died suddenly in the yard of her home near Norton while preparing to drive to Slater. She was about 14 years old, in ill health, death believed from apoplexy. Survived by husband and four children: Charles of Slater, Mrs Harry Garrett of South Missouri, Mrs Robert Price of Nevada, and Beasie at home. She was a member of Mt Horeb Presbyterian Church. Funeral held yesterday afternoon with burial in Slater cemetery.

A J Wilson, a respected farmer from three miles southeast of town, died suddenly Tuesday April 25. He suffered asthma and heart failure. He married twice, first to Jennie Downs and after her death to Elizabeth Downe, sister to the first wife. No children were born to either marriage, but two girls were adopted, one now Mrs Lon Thorp and another still at home. He was a faithful Mt Olive church member and highly spoken of. Suited age 4 years old.

Stock Market Report April 2 1911 Declines Across Cattle
Liberal receipts of cattle pushed markets down with a 2 percent decline per cwt on good beef cattle. Yearling steers and heifers fell about 2 percent to 35 cents per cwt. Cow prices also weakened by roughly 25 cents weekly. Hog receipts were light with prices near the top. choice lights and mixed hogs near peak, heavies and butcher hogs from 6.05 to 6.20 per cwt.
