Mrs Nora E Webster wife of J F Webster died at her Miami home on April 13 1910 after a long illness with tuberculosis She was born near Franklin Tennessee September 26 1853 and married October 28 1877 Four children survived including Vivian Mattingly Imogene Guy and Forrest with Forrest dying in infancy Funeral services were led by Rev Powell at the Miami Baptist church and she was laid to rest in the Baptist cemetery She was noted as a kind devoted wife mother and friend

The Gayety theatre opened to the public Saturday evening in the former Southern Hotel storeroom leased by Midland Amusement Co of Kansas City. W C Robertson was placed in charge as the auditorium boasts a raised floor mahogany chairs good lighting and ventilation with wide entrances and a spacious foyer. A Saturday afternoon show will be a new feature with Mrs. Conrad and R Taylor providing music and Geo Striker also employed as trap drummer.

Attempted death by own action at Frank's Cafe
Earl Slaughter a 30 year old colored porter at Frank's Cafe attempted suicide by drinking concentrated lye on Wednesday morning. He collapsed in the back yard after walking from the restaurant. Dr. Spotta and A. E. Gore treated him and he was moved to his mother Mrs. Florence Walking's home. A note warned of the evils of drink and blamed whisky for ruining his life. Slaughter had recently exposed bootleggers and had been drinking of late.

Saved by Block Signal on Alton Line Collision Averted
An incident on the Alton last Monday night saw Train 88 fail to stop at Slater as ordered, but the block signal and an electric headlight reveal danger. Engineer 88 halted after Norton sighted the signal, backing away as Train 87 halted. engines were within a train length.
