Early Bird Strikes Two Near Slater Depot injures two men
Randolph Murphy and Gabriel Roesen of East Slater were struck by passenger train No. 23, the Early Bird, while clearing wreckage near Slater depot. Murphy suffered severe injuries and remained unconscious until Sunday. Roesen lost a foot to amputation but is not in immediate danger. The men, well known locally, were clearing a wreck when the train approached on the main track.

Bad Accident Near Wood and Huston Bank
A collision at Wood and Huston Bank Friday evening involved vehicles driven by M. L. Montague and June K. King. Mrs. King suffered a broken collarbone and was taken to a local physician. The King buggy was damaged. both parties had just left F. W. Miles store. Montague, driving north, said he could not stop in time after King moved on, and the crash occurred. The horse reared, and Montague described his horse as racing at a four-minute gait.

Finger Amputation Incident At Arrow Rock Home
A four year old cut off a finger of his two year old brother while playing at their Arrow Rock home last week. A physician was called immediately and Mr. Greis reports the finger will probably regrow.

Saline County Medical Association Elects New Officers
The Saline County Medical Association met at the courthouse Tuesday and elected Dr. William Harrison as president, Dr. John R. Hall as first vice president, Dr. F A Howard as second vice president, and Dr. R H Dyer as secretary. Howard was named delegate to the state convention at Hannibal in May. A special meeting is set for next Tuesday to pursue securing next year’s state meeting, with the next regular meeting to discuss hospital equipment maintenance and administration.

Hogs 20 to 25 cents lower, top 10.35, bulk 10.15 to 10.30, foods pigs 10.00 to 10.50, weak for week’s balance.
