Death of Matty G. Werring in Minckburn timbterman

Matty G. Werring, a prominent Minckburn timberman and auto man, died suddenly on April 6 after apoplexy struck him at the garage Friday evening. Funeral services were held April 7 at Mt Church, South, with burial under Blackburhs I.O.O.F. lodge auspices. He leaves a wife and three children.

Mary J Edwards 77 Dies at Nelson Home

Mrs Mary J Edwards wife of W H Edwards died March 26 1914 at Nelson aged 77 13 born in Tennessee came to Missouri in childhood and married W H Edwards nine children survive including Mrs Tulla Donbonds Mrs Mattie Griffin Mrs J Hewitt Edwin and Morrie Wallerds Mrs Wee J Hubbard and Mrs F Buford Funeral held in M B E Church Nelson with Rev Snapp burial at Nelson cemetery Described as a devout Christian mother and wife Formerly lived in Grand Pass.

Prominent Slater Mentor Dies at Age Eighty in Home

Retired Slater resident Mr. Stone died Monday at 2 a m at his home aged 80 years 27 days after a three year illness. He moved from Carrollton in 1882 and settled in Slater leaving a wife and five children A T Stone Springfield Mo F M Stone Marshall Mrs W L Davenport Mrs M F Miller of Slater and Mrs A Huff of Gillam area. He was regarded as a good and upright man and the community extends condolences for the bereavement.

Revival closes with fifty additions at M. K. Church South

Church notes report a successful revival ending Thursday night with about fifty new members. Evangelist Dr. Hawking returned to St. Louis and his plain sermons urged readers to abandon error. Union events include Sunday sermons on sin and death and multiple church meetings across Marshall, with Persian missionary remarks and native dress displayed.

Firefighters were summoned to 677 South English at 1 o clock Tuesday afternoon as a basement fire started by hot ashes at the L. F. Leyhe home. A basemen t servant reported the blaze. Little damage resulted.

The ceremony was conducted by J EB Wylie and the couple left for Kansas City shortly after. The bride, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs W P Stallings, is praised as a lovely capable young woman. the groom, son of Mr and Mrs Cherie Johns, is described as an industrious bookkeeper at the Sweet Springs Mining Co. The notice conveys heartfelt wishes for happiness.
