Obituary notices report Walter Bingham 12 died April 5 in Arrow Rock after chronic illness. Sarah A Smith 69 died April 1 at North Ellsworth, Marshall following pleural illness. John J Terrell 54 died in Fredericksburg hospital after chronic ailments. five children survive. James P Fisher about 65 died near Houstonia. Marion Green pneumonia died Monster Springs.
Miss Emma McCormick died at the home of her nephew Ru fue McCormick in Slater on Sunday April 2, aged 65. Reverend J. T. Pritchett conducted funeral services at the home of A Morgan Tuesday afternoon, after which the remains were taken to Slater cemetery for burial.
Everett Mary, infant daughter of Albert Everett and wife, died at home in Napton on Wednesday. Funeral services were not held, and the body was interred at Mapton cemetery.
Leon Booker, a local resident, died at the home of his parents east of Priday on March 31. The obituary notes the death occurred Saturday and mentions burial or memorial details are to be announced in Rock Creek.

The Saline county Modern Woodmen of America gathered in Woodmen hall with 49 present from eleven camps. C. W. Peecher presided. Wm Thorp served as temporary chair, then W. W. Carpenter became permanent chair. Delegates chosen were W. W. Carpenter of Marshall, John Miller of Miami, and D. T. Sydenstricker of New Frankfort for the state encampment at Hannibal on May 13. The order, with 1251 Saline members, endorsed national officers and Carpenter as national delegate for Buffalo encampment in June.
Bad weather and low interest produced a very light vote in Marshall with just over 200 ballots cast. Nine months' school carried. Council race results show 1st ward J. J. Mitchell 69, P. Allen ST 50, Tucker 6, E. G. Uts 60, J. M. Rose , 4th ward J. M. Huff 33, J. M. Lindsey 1.

Directors of the St Louis Kansas City Electric Railway ordered L J Smith Construction to start a double track electric line from Higginsville. The project aims for five hour service to St Louis within two years with hourly unit car service and coal land development in Boone and Howard counties. Construction begins April 17 with extensions east from Higginsville and from Independence, including bridges at Arrow Rock and St Charles.
The Kansas City Star notes that over fourteen years the subject served several years as assistant general manager of the railroad, highlighting a long tenure and rising responsibilities within the company.

Last Sunday night the O. H. Witcher & Co drug store on Main street was robbed. Break in through the front door glass unlocked the day lock safe and the intruder took about $40 in cash, checks, cigars, and several quarts of whiskey. Don Rembert was suspected. whiskey found with him, money and checks not recovered. Rembert out on bond. preliminary trial set for Monday before Justice C. A. Hall.
Earl Williamson son of the Grand Pass editor was badly burned last Friday while soldering a gasoline tank when it exploded. He remained in serious condition for several days, with no clear report on his current status.
News item notes E. McCullough arrested in Nevada on a charge of burning his barn and horses to collect insurance. He moved from Marshall. five prior fires are alleged. His wife, with her father James Young in the city, provides incriminating evidence.
The piano drawing advertised in the Republican drew many despite rain. At 2 o clock Edith Campbell, daughter of Mr and Mrs J B Campbell, pulled the winner ticket 1564 held by Mrs John Mull. The aunt of the girl who did the drawing had an earlier dream she would win, and the contest was noted as fairly conducted.
Gilliam resident Mrs Forest Rhodes identifies Jacob Kaul of Paxize Kennas as a new sibling in a fragmentary local notice. The garbled text hints at a home arrival or relation but lacks coherent detail or verifiable facts.
Among the Sick August Royal of Miami is critically ill. Miss Lillian Kreiser of Kansas City is well again and will take charge of her music class. Ben Hitt is moved from Alma to Marshall for treatment by Dr. R. H. Nuckles after a past fall. Lively health updates include Anna Stockman ill with acute indigestion, Mrs Belle Payne gravely ill, infant son of Nat Reynolds improving, and several neighbors recovering from tonsillitis and typhoid symptoms.
A. Bird, an elderly resident of College Addition, is critically ill with a serious heart trouble and dropsy.
Hansberger and Arnold have rented the Fletcher building to open a new department store at once. The firm already operates a large chain of stores and hopes to make a success of the Mareball enterprise. Both of the likely partners bring experience to the venture.
Charlie F Roscher shot and killed a jack rabbit Tuesday morning on his father's farm about two and a half miles southwest of Hern Arvenues.
Reading Circle at Carpenter home failed to gather many due to rain. Epworth League meeting postponed. Sunday School attendance contest at First Presbyterian ends with men edging out women. Rev BE D Burns preached at Mt Calvary Baptist in east Marshall. Rev H M Wood and wife, mission from China, will speak at M E church and First Presbyterian. Come out.
Rev Z T Orr preached at Versailles last Sunday and accepted half time at the Presbyterian church there while the Bethel Presbyterian church near Boonville seeks the other half. He will begin in the new field next Sunday, leaving our city. Easter services and baptism are planned at the A M E church in Miami with Rev M Collins delivering the sermon at 11 a.m. The 8 30 program and mission offering follow, with further events at Masonless Hall and references to Christian service.
