Manitoba to add four inspectors to school staff

Manitoba education minister Stew art E McLean announced four new inspectors boosting the total to 48 as of September, nearly reaching a goal of one inspector per division. Systemic insecticides curb warble losses in Manitoba cattle

Manitoba entomologists urge fall use of systemic insecticides to control warbles in beef cattle. Three products, Coral and Trolene in bolus and feed-additive forms, reduce grub counts dramatically. cows milk-producing should not be treated. Treatment delays slaughter by 45 days and 10 days before shipping. A joint project near The Pas sprays about 1500 cattle this September, with past trials showing 99 percent reduction in warbles.

Two Winnipeg area weddings anchor the September weekend celebrations. Beattie Couple Feted Before Foxwarren Move

A surprise party honored Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beattie as they prepare to relocate to Foxwarren. George Heyhoe offered best wishes, Mrs. J. Hawes presented an electric clock and a silver cutlery set from the community, and the couple thanked guests as “For they are Jolly Good Fellows” was sung followed by lunch.

Family Farewell for Fred Hill at A. C. Hill Home

A family gathering at Mr. and Mrs A C Hill’s home Sunday evening said farewell to Mr Fred Hill who has spent two months visiting Arrow River Miniota Hamiota and parts of Saskatchewan. He will return to Walkerton Ontario on Monday. Attendees included Mrs W Reid and Leslie Mrs Chris Brown and Wilf Mrs Georgina Hutchison of Oakner Mr Herman Hill Wilf and Art of Miniota. W A and WMS Meet At Mrs Westeland Home

The regular W A and WMS meeting was hosted by Mrs. Westeland with Mrs. Tennant presiding. The group discussed Getting by today from the W A Packet and the topic Declining Morals. An Anniversary Supper was planned for October 13. A 41 pound supply parcel for overseas was sent to the Minata base. Mrs. Grey read The Voice of Democracy and lunch concluded the gathering.

Mr and Mrs L Gilchrist Honoured at Community Shower

Mr and Mrs Larry Gilchrist were honored with a miscellaneous shower at the Community Centre on Tuesday evening. Corsages were given to the bride and two mothers. An address was read by Bob Attwood. Arlene Nickle and Susan Finkbeiner drew in a wagon with gifts. Young girls carried parcels as they were opened. The couple thanked guests and all sang For They Are Jolly Good Fellows. A lunch followed.
