Radio broadcasts prep by CBC staff and youth actor

Local Notes and Visits Across Manitoba
The town will hold a meeting Thursday in the old school. Miss Hilda Williams arrived Sunday from Ottawa for a holiday at her home. Mr and Mrs N Spalding of Gladstone spent the weekend at J Spalding’s home. William Woods travelled to Treherne Sunday to visit his father who is not well. Mrs A E Hall of Winnipeg visiting at her daughter’s home. Mrs Lawrence Reynolds Ida Rowan and Muriel Howard pursue Grade XII at Hamiota and Eleanor Wythe at Birtle. Wr Williams, recently in Virden hospital for an infected foot, returned home Saturday and must rest the foot. A marriage is planned for Marjorie Irene Spencer to Constable Nels Stavenford, RCMP, on Saturday September 13 at 7 pm at St Matthews Church Winnipeg.

Robbery Suspect Sentenced. Car Theft Cases Reported
According to Cst Hall RCMP the man who robbed stores in spring was jailed seven years after trouble in Saskatchewan. Two men received 18 and 12 months for car theft in Virden and Jack Walley’s car was stolen in Birtle. Mr and Mrs Wm Kirkland of Scotland visiting BC and other friends, see Geo Reynolds.

Community Tag Day Aids CNIB Raises 27.30
Town held a two day tag day to benefit the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Funds totaled 27.30 with thanks given to the visiting volunteers Betty McGinnis and Audrey Coulter. Local hospital staff and residents connected with Brandon General Hospital were mentioned along with several community service developments.
