Members of the 4-H Sewing Club attended Evensong at Holy Trinity Church on August 24. Rev. W. H. Gregory preached on Proverbs 30 24 28, urging the girls to value small things that can change a nation. The group was led by Miss Erma Jolley.
Miss Betty Johnson was named public speaking champion at the 4 H camp held recently at Crawford Park SPARKS. The local Canadian Association of Consumers reorganized with Mrs G E Reynolds presiding. Discussions covered dairy products moth damage and mothproofing methods.
Council met August 1958 in Municipal Hall Minnesota with all members present. Minutes from June 26 and July 16 and August 11 approved. Various letters discussed from public works agriculture and banks. By law amendments and appointments were approved. Tax roll revision court set for October 15 1958. Bank exchange rate and tree planting program approved alongside tax related and bond actions.
John Labatt announces the appointment of Mr. McGill as Assistant General Manager of the Manitoba Division. McGill formerly directed Industrial Relations at the London Ontario head office of Jehan Labatt Limited and has been with the company for 18 years.
Robert Hunter Welsh, 76, died August 22 in Deer Lodge Hospital after years of ill health. A Crandall blacksmith for twenty years, he served in the Ordinance Corps during World War II. Survived by daughters Mrs. Lindsay of Winnipeg and Mrs. Morrison of Crandall, plus three grandchildren and one great grandchild and two sisters Miss Mary Welsh of Toronto and Mrs. Reddick of Winnipeg. Funeral at McConnell's Chapel, Hamiota, 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. A Faebart. burial Crandall Cemetery attended by H Collyer and others.
The Audit Report for the year 1957 of the Rural Municipality of Miniota is open for inspection at the Municipal Office Miniota during office hours. Reeve H. S. Hyndman signs the notice.
