A general meeting of the Miniota school district was held at the Municipal Office on October 16, 1962. All board members were present except M Powell W Cole and Mrs P Rowan. Lorne Wright chaired the session.
A wedding in Hamiota United Church unites Olive Anne Hanlin elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Hugh Hanlin Hamiota and Robert Edison of Pellatt Ontario on October 6 at 3 pm Rev R Clark officiated The bride wore a white peau de soie dress with bouquet of honey yellow roses The groom's party included Arthur Edison of Winnipeg and Gerald Hanlin of Keewatin Ontario The reception followed at the Fraternal Hall with a three tier cake and flowers in autumn tones The ceremony included songs by Ford Wiggins and a Psalm paraphrase
Mrs. Caroline Elizabeth Spencer aged 69 died Saturday October 15 1962 at Misericordia Hospital Winnipeg survived by husband Albert Spencer and sister Mrs Daisy Cooke of Brandon. Funeral at St Georges Anglican Church Birtle with burial in Birtle Cemetery. Active pallbearers from Miniota included P C Watts Chris Ellerington and others.
Mrs. John Wiggins is ill in Hamiota hospital and friends wish her a speedy recovery. An Auction Sale at Spence Wallace farm drew neighbors from Brighton, Palmerston, and Arrow River. George Brown family visited R Clegg. E E Johnston guests at R Mitchell home. Mr Lean on holiday. R Peel in hospital hoping to go home weekend. Peel children with parental Spence Littlejohn. Gail Mitchell returned from travels to Winnipeg Ottawa Toronto Niagara Chalk River. Mrs Woods visited old friends in Hamiota. Crandall School invites five year olds to Halloween Party October 31 at 1 15 p.m.
Crandall Hi-C Group reorganized Friday under John Suszko with officers Poemgent Ken Smith Vice Larpraine Rudd secretary Margare Henderson treasurer Steen program convenor Lawrie Johnston devotional convenors Linda Rivers and Craig White Lynch Marian Henderson. Crandall defeated Hamiota High School 1 0 in soccer with David Lipscomb scoring the winner. Crandall girls tennis won three of five sets and remain unbeaten. Orange Hall, a Crandall landmark, is being sold to Matt McLean.

Explorers, Messengers, 4H and U C W groups held meetings. officers were elected. dances and slide shows scheduled. weather notes mention snowfall. citizenship stories and Legion banquet plans dominate the report.
Mr and Mrs Steve Bell celebrated their silver wedding anniversary at home with Blaiis Isabella friends and family. Grandsons sang two songs, Mrs Gordon Grey read an address, and china gifts along with many presents were given. A lunch was served by the hostesses.
Isabella and Frances Hail of Vancouver visited district friends during the past week. Mrs J E Finkbeiner and her mother left for Montreal to visit the Kendalls. Clarence Adams visited Winnipeg. his mother returned home with him. A Adams spent the weekend in Brandon. Mr and Mrs Art Heise attended a wedding in Ndale on Saturday October 20. Dagg family spent the weekend in Neepawa. Anniversary services and a Baptism service planned for Sunday October 28 at 11 30 a.m.
Weekend visits noted for Miss Gayle Topps at her Russett home. Mr and Mrs Jim Reynolds and Mr Lawrence Reynolds spent the past week in Winni. Sympathy extended to Mr Albert Spencer of Winnipeg on his wife’s passing. Mrs J Stowe traveled to Montreal to visit daughter Mrs G J Kendall. Miniota CAC to meet Oct 30 at 8 pm at Mrs Alex McKean’s home. New members welcome. Minota WI and Elementary School plan Halloween UNICEF canvass for charity.
