Galician Girl Involved In Baby Found In Closet

A Galician girl gave birth to a baby girl and hid it in a closet last Thursday near Hamiota. Coroner Kirk was notified and an inquest was ordered. a jury was empanelled and will reconvene Friday at 10 o'clock to hear evidence after the woman recovers.

Life boat to go over Niagara test by Arrow River inventor

James Mitchell of Arrow River plans to send his inverted life boat on a supreme test over the Niagara River. He arranged with Leach, who made a recent half successful Niagara Falls trip, to use the boat for another attempt. The craft, now in Halifax, will be transferred at once and, if successful, would be a valuable aid to seagoing vessels.

Big Prairie Fire Prompts Local Thanks for Prompt Aid

George Mellor praised the Miniota Fire Brigade for rapid response to a blaze near his home on Wednesday morning. The fire, started Tuesday afternoon as a clearing fire, spread quickly but was checked by backfiring and the arrival of the engine and about twenty firefighters at 1 AM, with control achieved by 4 AM.

Ada Leary and Robert P Drennan married at Knox Church Manse Winnipeg with Rev Duval officiating. The couple returned home Friday and began housekeeping above Forsyth's store. Both are well known in town and wished happiness.

The Merry Musicians Open Winter Season in Hall

The Merry Musicians opened a five part winter series with a Monday concert drawing a large audience. Mr. Eckhardt carried the show with strong reception and is praised as a top act in western Canada. Miss George received favorable notices for her singing and Matt Grieg was adequate while Miss Repine earned hearty applause.
