New Hunting Preserves Set Up In Manitoba
The Manitoba Game Branch created the Dog Lake Bird Sanctuary and Steep Rock Game Preserve this month to protect geese and moose. Log Lake islands east of Lake Manitoba Narrows are sanctuaries with no hunting or migratory waterfowl hunting allowed. Moose numbers supported Steep Rock, formerly a Hudsons Bay muskrat project, north of Mafeking on Highway 10. Earlier, Moose Lake near Sprague and a Red River preserve near Morris were established.
