Health centres proposed for province voiced at Birtle meeting

Hon De Montgomery and Dr Covington spoke in Birtle on public health, urging a unified district of Shoal Lake, Hamiota, Miniota, Birtle, Eilige and Archie to serve about 12 000 people with a full time doctor two nurses a sanitary inspector and a clerical assistant. Funding would be 25 percent from the province 25 percent from the Rockefeller Foundation and 50 percent from the six municipalities.

Anniversary Services At United Church Miniota

The United Church at Miniota marked its anniversary with autumn services led by Rev J R Mutchmer of Robertson Memorial Church Winnipeg. He spoke on The Broken Body in the afternoon and The Abundant Life in the evening, as a large choir led worship and the auditorium displayed fruits and grains by the Girl Guide company. A crowd later enjoyed a fowl supper with entertaining program and Manitoba Folks lecture, plus musical selections by the Hamiota Orchestra and a girls quartet.
