Murphy McArthur wedding at St Matthews Gilbert Plains
Elizabeth Louise McArthur daughter of Lloyd and Mrs. McArthur of Flin Flon wed Jay Deneen Murphy son of Mrs. Murphy of Riceton Bask at St Matthews Church Gilbert Plains on October 2. Rev Murray Ames officiated with music by Mrs E Edge and soloist Mrs J Edge. The bride wore empire line nylon organza gown with Chantilly lace jacket, veil, and red roses. Jean Kerr was bridesmaid, Rob Steuart escorted, ushers D Tully and R Sawyer. A reception followed and the couple will reside in Flin Flon after a trip to Kenora.

Achievement Day highlights potato judging by 4-H club
A crowd gathered for the Miniata 4H Potato Club Achievement Day held Wednesday night. Judge Ag Rep C Bailey praised members then announced prizes with Wayne Powell Larry Walker Wilber Mackean winning first, Don Gurr second, Rennie and Bob Mackean Clifford Walker Jim Craig and Jim Sparks third.

The event featured accordion solos by Jack Cook, square dancing, still pictures, and a film. Musical accompaniments by Mrs A Spalding, William Leland, and Tom Ellerington helped craft a pleasant evening that ended with a lunch and a call for parent involvement.
