Elizabeth Stewart Dies After Long Illness in Brandon
Mrs Elizabeth Stewart widow of Wesley Stewart died at Brandon General Hospital on Sept 22 1964 after a long illness. Born in Howwood Scotland on April 17 1893 she came to Canada in 1913 settling in Pilot Mound then Isabella and Fort Garry before moving to Brandon. Survived by son Tom Perth Western Australia brother John and two sisters Mrs Taylor Norwood and Mrs Archibald. Service held Sept 25 at Clark Leatherdale Brandon with interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Hamiota Hospital Aid Meets Reports From Board
Hamiotta District Hospital Aid No 7 met in the Community Room and reported a balance of 65 dollars. The Liason officer supplied details from the hospital board meeting including five resignations. August laundry cost 292 and the hospital cared for 55 patients with 10 new babies and 2 deaths. Ten operations were performed and 4 bottles of Red Cross blood used. A blood donors clinic is planned in Hamiota on November 3. Delegates to the Winnipeg convention are Mrs. L Andrew Chumah and Miss Richardson Kenton. Oak River will do the mend ing in October. Jams jellies and fruit are needed at the hospital.

John Smith died in Hamiota Hospital September 25 after a year of poor health. The Crandall area resident born March 22 1878 in Scarborough Ontario married Rachel Kirk in 1908 and farmed at Crandall then Hamiota. He served on Crandall School Board and enjoyed sports. Survived by wife, three sons Newton Herb Jack. seven daughters Pearl Kidd Margaret Caldwell Rena Smith Eileen Tennant Alice Johnston Velma Olive. thirty seven grandchildren. one brother and four sisters. Funeral conducted by Rev Clark at Hamiota United Church September 28 with interment in Hamiota Cemetery.
