Survival training offered to provincial staff by army
Manitoba civil servants aged 18 to 50 may take six week national survival courses with army instruction. The government will cover the salary gap. applications go through supervisors. Courses run in Winnipeg and eight other towns with four sessions starting dates through spring.

Rural weddings unite Palmer and McKean families in two ceremonies
The Palmer family of Bentley Alberta and the McKean family of Miniota Manitoba observed a double ceremony on October 27 at United Church with Rev Oliver Seward. Lorna May Palmer wore organza and lace with a pearl neck groom while Reinald Alvin McKean attended her. Guests included Patricia Ann Butcher as maid of honor and Edmund Jolley, David Turnbull, and Robert McKean as attendants. A reception followed for 42. The couple plans to reside in Bentley after their honeymoon.
