Miniota Council Sets 1962 Budget and Grants
Miniota council met November 14 1962 at the municipal office with full attendance. The meeting approved October minutes and discussed public works snowplowing highway and government assistance grants, plus a 60 percent grant request for 1963 projects. Delegates to the Union of Manitoba Municipalities were named with expenses of 65 dollars each.

Local Notes From Mimota and Decker Church Anniversary
Mimota Fruit and pickles worth 7.45 were donated to the Hospital Aid at Hamiota. Donations totaled 7.50. Rev. John Sloan spoke at the Decker United Church anniversary service at 7 30 p m on November 18. Rev. Angus McColl led the Miniota evening service and also ministers the Decker congregation. William Ho of Miniota Collegiate announced that former student Henry Bretecher earned three bursaries totaling 800 for Grade 12 1961 62 with 86 percent average. two bursaries from government and one from St Paul’s College Winnipeg. Henry is now in second year science at St Paul’s College this fall.

Delegates Attend Annual Convention of Manitoba Urban Trustees Association
Delegates met at the Marlborough Hotel Winnipeg for two days in November. President E L Reynolds of Minnesota opened the session. Recommendations urged appointing a provincial director of physical education and expanding school facilities and programs. Delegates sought university senate seats and degrees in library science and physical education to address teacher shortages. Special speaker Winnipeg psychologist Mrs Morgan Wright spoke at the event.

U C W Bazaar Helps Community Fund Subscriptions
The U C W held a successful bazaar and silver tea on Saturday with aprons novelties baking candy produce sold. Loans were made from the book table and subscriptions taken for The Observer. Ross Leland and bby Watters returned home from hospital to resume school. Mrs A C Hill and others noted.
