Fine Arts Festival Held in Hamiota
The Fall session of the Birdtail River Fine Arts Festival took place in Hamiota from November 4 to 7 with Jim Belford and Judy Acheson adjudicating dance and speech sections. About 50 group entries and 160 individuals competed, including a Ham iota High School drama item and Strathclair group gymnastics. A new poetry section impressed, mainly Gr VI from Miniota. Awards included several trophies, scholarships, and a $25 festival scholarship to Manitoba Holiday Festival of Arts. A spring session is planned for May 4–7 in Hamiota, featuring vocal, choral, piano, and instrumental sections. A concert on November 7 drew a large crowd, with speeches, trophy presentations, and a gymnastics program by Belford.

A Levins visited Mr and Mrs J Lowes in Brendon and her son Fred Levins visited his mother Wednesday. Jessie Armstrong of Winnipeg spent weeks with her sister Mrs S Barnes and relatives at Decker and Minota. Cowling accompanied Mr and Mrs R Leland of Minniota to Winnipeg to see Pauline, who flew from Vancouver to visit two sisters, Mrs Arnold and Mrs Lakatos. Mr and Mrs A Curtis of Birtle visited Mrs Barnes and her sister and called on Mrs Bardwell Friday.
