The Miniota United Church W A M S holds its annual bazaar at the Community Centre on Saturday November 21 from 3 to 5 p m. Items for sale include aprons fancy work home produce candy fish pond and a silver tea event to follow.
Obituary for H W R Gemmel of Winniped who died November 5 at Princess Elizabeth Hospital at 76 with burial at St Vital Cemetery. Local events include United Church meeting November 19, Wynona Bazaar November 10 with $60.85 raised, and Miniota Curling Club rink committee named. New Manitoba Telephone Directory to be mailed or picked up by November 20 with 83 000 copies.
Attendance was good at a special meeting of the Share holders of Miniota Consumer's Co-operative Limited in Miniota Community Centre on Monday evening November 9. The vote showed 32 in favor and 31 against the proposed amalgamation with Hamiota Co op Limited, with 75 percent of members present required to carry.
Regular meetings of the Boy Scouts and Cubs are held each Wednesday at 7 30. On October 28 four cubs aged out were raised to the Boy Scout troop Ken Armitage Bob McKenzie Ken Peel and Albert Sparks. Cat Patrol won the eight week patrol competition and received guard ropes. Wayne Powell joins as Assistant Scoutmaster and Christmas tree sales replace Forsyth Bros with orders via leaders.
The Miniota Branch of the Canadian Association of Commerce held its annual meeting at Mrs. G Reynolds home on November 10. Mrs. S Taylor presided as secretary brought reports on standard clothing sites for children from nursery to kindergarten to be available in 1961. The group discussed expanding CAC coverage to include isolated members and reaffirmed a stand against premium use in sales promotions. Officers for 1959 60 were named: President Mrs Taylor Vice President Mrs Ellerington Secretary Treasurer Mrs Long.
