Grain buyer A V Winkler joins Woods elevator staff

A V Winkler arrived last week and is now grain buyer at the bake of the Woods elevator in town. Mrs Curry and Misses Ruby and Eva Curry left last week for Brandon where they will make their home in the future. A comprehensive report on the recent Ragienm Trustees convention held in Brandon was given by the chairman W Lindsay. The next meeting will be held at KArrowit River on December 15.

North Dakota Weekend Visits Mentioned In Local Notes

Mr and Mrs Wal Bonner and Mr and Mrs P C Watts visited Minot and other North Dakota points over the weekend. The United church Y P U will hold a reorganization meeting Wednesday at 8 o'clock inviting all interested. Mrs J Cook suffered injuries after being kicked by a horse Monday night last week and was admitted to hospital due to her condition.

Rememberance Day tribute and Armistice observance

As Armistice Day nears November 11th the community reflects with gratitude for the end of World War I and hopes for peaceful arbitration of future conflicts. A two minute silence is urged to honor those who sacrificed their lives, with services planned at the Minnesota memorial plot and Crandall United at 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. respectively.

Rural Council Court of Revision Meets for 1939 Assessments

The rural council met on a Wednesday as a Court of Revision to entertain appeals on NW 5-126 SW 5-15-26 NE 20-13-25 with reduced assessments to 1600 1900 and 1700 respectively While other appeals were not entertained the 1938 assessment amendments were adopted and the 1939 revised roll approved Grants to Salvation Army Children's Aid Society Institute for the Blind Red Cross Society were approved An Old Age Pension application was recommended and tax sale withdrawals discussed Leases for land to F Bohra and F Stowe with crop arrangements were authorized Bylaws on various properties and tax matters were noted The next meeting will be called by the Reeve

The Miniota school board met Thursday with Wm. Lindsay as chair. Resolutions include Copp Clark map supply acceptance, transportation route cost reduction to 1.40 per day starting August 29, 1938, and Christmas holidays from December 22, 1938 reopening January 31, 1939.
