Glen MacDonald of Petawawa Ontario visited his father D MacDonald who is now home from hospital. Various locals including Mrs Paynter and Miss Paynter led the United Church group meeting. 4 H Sewing Group held its monthly meeting.

Hamiota District Hospital Auxiliary Meets in October
The Hamiota District Hospital No. 7A Auxiliary met in the community room on Friday October 27 at 2 30 p.m. Mrs R O Frazer presided. Seventeen districts answered roll call. Minutes were read and approved. Reports show August and September mending hours, with October planning for Oakner and November for Scotia and Chumah. Delegates to the Manitoba Hospital Convention in Winnipeg reported fully. Nominating committee members were named and the secretary and treasurer for 1962 were re elected. The meeting closed with Mizpah Benediction.

Marquette Progressive Conservatives Hold Annual Meeting at Hamiota
A capacity crowd filled the Hamiota Theatre as the Marquette Progressive Conservative Association held its annual meeting. President Tom Seens chaired the session with Mrs. Wayne reporting a healthy bank balance for the 1962 term. Dozens attended, and greetings came from M L A s Walter Weir and Barry Strickland, plus J N Mandzuik Q C. The nominating committee listed officers for 1962, with Diefenbaker and Roblin given honorary posts. The President praised members and noted plans and nuclear-test concerns.

Crandall WI Meets for October in Church Parlors
The Crandall Women’s Institute held its October meeting with 11 members and 3 visitors. A layette donation was given for Children's Aid. Treasurer reported 118.58 in General Fund and 563.35 in Community Account. Arrangements made to serve lunch to veterans on November 11. Next meetings include Window Treatment course at Hamiota in November and United Appeal collection. Annual WI meeting set for November 9 at 7 30.

On their twenty fifth anniversary the Leland couple attended a family dinner in Brandon where a chest of silver was presented. Neighbors later surprised them with an electric lamp during a social on Friday evening.

Crandall and Scotia ladies held a miscellaneous shower for Miss Marion Smuttell bride elect of October 28 in Crandall United Church parlours. Guests presented corsages, songs were performed, and gifts were distributed by a wagon of parcels. Marion thanked her friends and lunch followed.

The W M S met at Mrs Al Campbell’s home on Wednesday October 25 with eight members present. No Rally delegates were chosen for Foxwarren on November 3. Devotions by Mrs Campbell, with Mrs Attwood assisting. An article on Christian Stewardship by Mrs Lowes was read, plus material from Missionaries Reporting. A misc shower for Mr. and Mrs. Stan Teasdale followed at the Community Centre with gifts and an “Apple For The Teacher” note. The event closed with a chorus of For They’re Jolly Good Fellows and a luncheon.
