Birtle District Women’s Institute Holds Annual Convention
The Annual Convention of Birtle District Women’s Institute met May 21 at Isabella United Church with 160 attendees. Delegates from 26 institutes attended, heard speakers including Miss Betty Collyer and Mrs. G Black, and heard a United Nations address by Miss Helen Marsh. Awards, reports, and the Tweedsmuir display followed, with an evening session closing to the singing of The Queen.

Miniota Council Adopts May 16 1963 Minutes and Passes Bids
The Municipal Council meeting at Miniota on May 16 1963 with full attendance led by Reeve H S Hyndman adopted minutes from April 29 1963 and approved multiple tenders and notices. Imperial Oil tender for fuel oil at 18.70 cents per gallon for 1963 was accepted. Council authorizes notices for barrel lot prices on lubricants and bids for used timbers and channel iron, with tender deadlines June 5 1963. Also approved changes in ownership under the Municipal Act and set bylaw 1447 for sale and transfer of lots in Miniota Plot No 1647. Additional actions include partial per capita grants, easements for Petroleum Transmission Company, preliminary sewer and water survey by Associated Engineering Services Ltd, and payment of April cheques totaling 4 247 20.
